Town in Texas active in adoption of children

On Behalf of | Sep 6, 2012 | Adoption

Parents that wish to adopt a child should not give up when faced with various bureaucratic obstacles that make the process sometimes seem so daunting. A small town in Texas with a population of no more than 700 people has adopted 76 foster children in recent years.

The small town has taken upon itself to adopt children that were reportedly abused or abandoned. The reason the residents of the town have gone to so much trouble in working through the family law and adoption process is a feeling of responsibility they owe to such children.

The journey of this town in adopting all of these children all began with a single family. That family adopted one child more than ten years ago. The husband and wife then went on to adopt three more children as well. In part because of their example, many other residents of the community began adopting children as well.

There are many factors that go into deciding whether parents should or should not be allowed to adopt a child. There are competing laws, the rights of biological parents, the background of the child and area where he or she was born, and the qualifications of the parents to raise the child. Individuals wishing to adopt a child may wish to consult with an experienced family law attorney to find more information concerning the entire process.

Though all of these factors are important, the one consideration that trumps all the rest is deciding what is in the best interest of the child. In all family law circumstances where children are involved, this will always remain the number one concern.
