Neglected or abused children are usually removed from their homes for their own safety and welfare. The next question is how these children can be given the proper love and care that they need and deserve. The answer to this question is often foster care or adoption-two family law concerns that greatly impact the well-being of a child.

Foster care is the temporary placement of children under the care of foster parents while parental rights and responsibilities are transferred from the biological parent to the adoptive parents through the adoptive process. Although nearly 600,000 kids across the country live in such homes, still more need foster families. Foster parenting can make a big difference in the lives of children traumatized from abuse, neglect or abandonment. And the primary qualification for individuals to become a foster or adoptive parent is a willingness to participate actively in the child’s life.

Given that foster care and adoption can benefit children so much, many Texas residents who are considering adoption and foster care may appreciate the following news. Buckner Foster Care and Adoption Services is opening a new office located at Conroe, Texas, less than an hour from Houston. The new office will provide support and the required services to those who wish to provide foster care or become adoptive parents: parenting education, life skills, budget skills and financial assistance.

Individuals who seek to adopt may want to weigh the pros and cons of the type of adoption and understand the parental responsibilities that go along with it. Other issues, especially legal matters, need to be addressed in order to successfully adopt a child. For this reason, going through the adoption process with the assistance of a legal professional is helpful for all parties involved.
