After serving as the Associate Judge in the 507th Family District Court, Jim Evans is representing clients in all areas of family law. Jim is an astute listener quickly helping clients sort out their wants and needs and then crafting a path forward that encourages agreement, but that is always geared up to ask a court for relief.

Jim is a native Houstonian and graduated from Houston Baptist University with degrees in History and Spanish. Jim then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and received a master's degree in education. After a first career as a minister and then as a public school teacher, Jim attended law school at the University of Houston and served there as the Research Editor on the Houston Law Review.

Jim practiced bankruptcy law in Corpus Christi prior to moving back to Houston and entering the practice of family law. Jim's bankruptcy law background informs the way he approaches divorce cases particularly with regard to issues of debt and characterization of separate and community property.

Jim is a natural-born teacher and enjoys assisting his clients in gaining an appropriate understanding of their cases and their best possible outcomes. Jim is especially passionate about doing work that helps protect the parent-child relationship.

Jim is the father of two sons, and he and his husband enjoy traveling and taking care of their chickens, dogs, cats, and huge flower gardens.
