In yet another celebrity split, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have announced they have decided to divorce. The joint statement was given to CNN and asks that their privacy and the privacy of their children be respected during this difficult time in their lives.
The couple married in mid-2013 in France, with their son born just a few months later. The two had met in 2012 during the making of the movie “Dark Tide.” The marriage was Martinez’s first and Berry’s third. She was previously married to David Justice, a pro baseball player, and Eric Benet, a singer.
Perhaps Berry’s most acrimonious split, though, was from ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry. The model from Canada is the father of Berry’s daughter, 7. The custody battle was contentious and during it, Aubry and Martinez ended up in a fight in the driveway of Berry’s Hollywood home.
Martinez, who is known for his work in the movie “Unfaithful,” is also a model and former boxer. Berry won an Oscar for her leading role in the movie “Monster’s Ball.”
It’s not been reported if the couple has a prenup in place, but in many high asset divorces, a prenup can help the divorce process be less time-consuming. Most property is already listed and as long as the court agrees, divided.
