The custody dispute between Madonna and Guy Ritchie involving their son is still ongoing. It’s been two months since Rocco, 15, went to visit his father in Britain, even though a judge ordered his return.
Madonna and Ritchie were supposed to come to the U.S. last Wednesday for a custody hearing in the New York Supreme Court. That hearing has now been moved to March 2.
Rocco refused to return to his mom’s custody for the Christmas holiday. He did spend a couple of months with Madonna while she in the middle of her Rebel Heart tour last fall.
A previous story by People stated that that the teenager does not want to be in New York and wants to stay with his father. He will also have a court-appointed attorney according to the judge at the previous hearing. That judge told Madonna and her attorney, “I’m directing the child to be returned to New York. If he wants to stay with his father, he must return to his mother.”
Celebrity child custody cases often play out in the media, but it doesn’t mean the cases are any less complicated than those the ordinary public might be involved in. Child custody is one of the most contentious areas of divorce and requires the experience and guidance of an experienced attorney.
Whether you want to have your child custody order modified or you are just now separating and need a child custody order, it’s important to remember that the court will always make its ruling based on the best interests of the child.
