Prenuptial agreement allegedly signed by unwilling husband-to-be

If you had trouble getting your lover to sign a prenuptial agreement, then you may have been worried about where your marriage was going to end up. If somehow you marriage has come to an end and you are getting a divorce, then at least you know that the prenuptial agreement you fought for will now be able to be used in court. It’s easy to make the mistake of not having a prenuptial agreement when you’re in love, but if you have assets to protect, it may not be a bad idea.

This news release discusses a common issue that just happens to be in the limelight due to the celebrities involved. In Texas, you could have seen people struggling with getting their fiance or fiancee to sign a prenuptial agreement, too. The April 14 report states that Kandi Burrus, a star of Real Housewives of Atlanta, has asked that her husband-to-be signs a prenup. This allegedly caused a problem, because as his mother argued, why should he sign it when he’s in love?

A prenuptial agreement can cause arguments because it can sometimes make it seem like you don’t trust the other person. That isn’t the case at all. You have a right to protect what’s yours from before your marriage, and in states where a divorce splits your assets 50/50, that can be a huge benefit.

In Texas, which is a community property state, more focus is placed on what you’ve earned, bought, or inherited during the marriage together. With a prenuptial agreement, you can even prevent your assets from becoming community property during your marriage, and that’s something you may want to consider.

In the case of Kandi and her now-husband Todd Tucker, they allegedly were able to get through the ceremony with the prenup signed it appears. But, it’s easy to let something like this go when you’re upsetting someone you love. It’s important to think of the future, though, since the prenuptial agreement can be important if you split up.
